4 Easy Tips for Keeping a Cold at Bay

With cold and flu season in full swing, it’s important to stay on top of your health and take the necessary precautions to keep yourself from getting sick. After all, nobody wants to spend their days sneezing and coughing! Read on for some easy tips to help you avoid catching a cold this winter.
Boost Your Immune System
One of the best ways to avoid catching a cold is by boosting your immune system. Eating healthy, nutrient-rich foods can help give your body the vitamins and minerals it needs to fight off infection. Foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains are great sources of essential nutrients like vitamin C and zinc, both of which can help boost immunity. Additionally, try supplementing with multivitamins or other natural remedies if needed. Exercise can also be beneficial; not only does it reduce stress levels, but it also helps keep your immune system running smoothly.
Stay Hydrated
Drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day is an important part of staying healthy during cold and flu season. Water is always a great option as it helps flush out toxins from your body while replenishing lost fluids from sweating or other activities. Warm tea is another good choice as some herbal teas have anti-inflammatory properties that may help soothe sore throats or headaches caused by a cold.
Get Plenty of Rest
Getting enough rest is key when trying to avoid getting sick; sleep deprivation has been shown to suppress immune function which makes people more susceptible to infection. Be sure to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night if possible and take breaks during busy workdays or after long stretches of being active so that you don’t become overly exhausted. This will make it easier for your body to fight off any potential viruses or bacteria that may come its way.
Practice Good Hygiene
Practicing good hygiene is an excellent way to avoid getting sick this winter season. Make sure to wash your hands regularly with soap and water—especially after touching public surfaces like door handles or shopping carts—to make sure you don’t pick up any unwanted bacteria or viruses from other people who may have touched the same surfaces as you. Additionally, make sure not to share drinks or food utensils with anyone else; this will reduce your chances of spreading germs even more!
Keeping a cold at bay doesn’t have to be hard work!
